Using Generative AI Tools for Data Processing and Analysis

Abstract

This intermediate–level workshop introduces practical solutions for using generative AI tools to support data processing and analysis tasks through interaction with large language models (LLMs) on the LTTC LLM Studio’s Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform. Participants with foundational knowledge in data analysis and AI acquired from our introductory-level workshop will gain hands-on experience utilising generative AI in the data analysis process. Specifically, they will create a custom application on the MaaS platform, develop a specialised knowledge base tailored to their data analysis needs, and generate statistical descriptions based on their data. We will also discuss strategies such as prompt engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve the relevance and quality of AI-generated outputs. Additionally, participants will learn about the limitations of generative AI in data processing and analysis and how to assess the validity of AI-generated outputs critically.
