SUMMARY:Virtual Explorations of the Greater Bay Area: Enhancing Geography and Interdisciplinary Teaching with Digital Tools
DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, e-learning\, blended learning\, and experiential learning have gained significant traction across diverse academic disciplines. This project investigates how virtual field trips can enhance geography education and related subjects in secondary and tertiary settings. Two teaching packages have been developed using innovative e-learning tools including VR CAVE immersive environments\, ArcGIS StoryMaps\, and web-based 360° virtual tours. These resources focus on three critical development themes in China’s Greater Bay Area: industrial transformation\, urban renewal\, and heritage conservation. \nThe workshop will introduce these interdisciplinary virtual field trip packages and demonstrate their application across multiple subject areas including geography\, general studies\, citizenship and social development\, as well as tourism and heritage studies. Participants will engage in critical discussions about the pedagogical strengths and limitations of each digital tool employed in the project.

SUMMARY:Creating 360 Virtual Tours for Teaching in VR-CAVE
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nThe Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (VR CAVE) at the EdUHK is the largest immersive VR environment in Hong Kong\, providing 360-degree interactive projections and allowing multi-player interactions. Currently\, some schools have established VR CAVE for providing learning activities in different subjects.  Students and teachers are ready to use VR CAVE in education!  The 360 Designer application is now available to support the development of 360 virtual tours for teaching. Using 360 virtual tours in teaching is a unique and fun way to engage and inspire students to learn by providing an immersive learning experience.  Students can feel and practice what the place has to offer.  You are cordially invited to attend the following workshop to learn how to create a 360 virtual tour for teaching in VR CAVE and equip yourself with creativity and problem-solving skills. \nEnrollment https://eduhk.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3yKf7yOxG3dKRaS
